Final Walk-Through Checklist
Many new buyers ask what they are supposed to do at the final walk-through before going to settlement on their home purchase. Here is a 10-point checklist for the final walk-through that you can use.

1. Confirm that any repairs agreed to in final contract have been made
2. Check basement, attic, closets, garage, and other storage spaced to make sure seller is not leaving unwanted items / junk behind.
3. Check that items such as window treatments that the seller agreed to leave behind are still there.
4. Make sure that attached inclusions such as lighting fixtures haven’t been replaced with less costly ones.
5. Verify for yourself that all systems and appliances are in working order
6. Check for damage by seller’s movers (e.g., scrapes/nicks/holes in walls/doorways/floors).
7. Check walls/floors/countertops previously covered by pictures, area rugs, or countertop appliances for previously undetected problems/damage.
8. Walk through entire house to assure that it is “broom clean” throughout.
9. Walk outside to confirm that no shrubbery and other plantings have been removed.
10. Relax and look forward to moving in!
