Homebuyer Tax Credit Extension and Expansion Passed

Homebuyer Tax Credit Extension and Expansion Passed

An extension/expansion of the Homebuyer Tax Credit has passed both the House and Senate by a vote of 403-12. And President Obama signed the bill into law today that includes provisions, not only extending the $8,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers until April 2010, but expanding the stiumlus to include a $6,500 tax credit for current owners who purchase a home.  The modifications to the original Homebuyer Tax Credit offers $6,500 to homebuyers who have sold and occupied a principal residence for 5 of the previous 8 years.
