OASIS at Leisure World Maryland Coming in the Fall!

OASIS is a national, educational, not-for-profit organization for people 50 and over. Classes are offered in the arts, humanities, health/wellness and computer areas.  Check back for more information on classes, schedules and location.

American Pianist Thomas Pandolfi to perform at Leisure World of Maryland

The Foundation of Leisure World and the E&R Department are pleased to bring world-renown American pianist Thomas Pandolfi to Leisure World of Maryland for a very special performance.

 Sunday, August 1 at 7 PM

Clubhouse II Auditorium

Tickets, $6 per person

On sale Tuesday, July 6 at 8:30 am in both clubhouse I & II.

He will perform music of Franz Liszt, Robert Schumann, Frederic Chopin, Earl World as well as George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue."

Thomas Pandolfi is earning the reputation as being one of America's finest pianists. He is praised not only for his compelling Mozart, passionate Liszt and dazzling Gershwin interpretations, but also for his innovative programming ideas. He performs internationally with some of the world's leading orchestras and collaborated with reknown conductors. A highlight of Pandolfi's 2009-10 season is the world premiere of British composer Simon Proctor's "James Bond" piano concerto in London.

A graduate of The Juilliard School, Pandolfi earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees as a scholarship student. He has produced several CDs, the most recent of which are "Thomas Pandolfi - Polish Masters" and "Into the Night with Gershwin."

Leisure World of Maryland Physical Properties Maintenance Department
Located within the  55+ Leisure World of Maryland gated community located in Montgomery County, Maryland.

All residents of Leisure World of Maryland have the convenience of the Physical Properties Maintenance Department.

SCOPE OF SERVICES OFFERED BY PPD'S NINE DEPARTMENTS :

1. Appliance Department -

Repair and/or replacement of all major appliances: washer, dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, ice maker, cook top, range, range hood, microwave and freezer. Some appliances are in stock or available for quick installation.

2. Carpentry Department -
Door/window repair, drywall work, rescreening, non-structural building repairs, cabinet/counter top repairs and/or replacement, installation of vinyl composition tile, shelving (wire/wood), lock repair/replacement.

3. Electrical Department -
Repair/replacement of outlets, switches, circuit breakers; installation of smoke sensors, ceiling fans, light fixtures, telephones; electrical wiring.

4. Heating and Air Conditioning Department -
Installation of new HVAC equipment; service or renovation of existing units; installation and repair of electronic air filters and humidifiers; installation and repair of exhaust fans; regularly scheduled maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.

5. Plumbing Department -
Replacement/repair of hot water heaters, faucets, sinks, toilets, instant-hot; replacement of water filters; repair to water pipes, drain lines; clearing of drain stoppages; repair of frozen water lines.

6. Purchasing Department/Warehouse -
ADDITIONAL ITEMS MAY BE SPECIAL ORDERED. Ample parking is available at PPD for your convenience.

7. Special Projects Department -
Some examples are:
Storm water management and drainage, sump pumps, roof inspections, repair and replacement of gutters and downspouts, fencing repair or replacement, paving work, estimates for custom work, etc..

8. Vehicle Maintenance, Trash and Recycling Department -
PPD provides weekly removal of solid waste trash and recyclable trash, including newspapers, plastics, aluminum cans and magazines. We maintain service vehicles used on-site in our own facilities to keep expenses low.

9. After-Hours or Evening Department -
Hours are Monday through Friday from 4:30 PM to 12:00 midnight ; Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 8:00 AM until 12:00 midnight. Service provided between midnight and 8:00 AM will be charged at the overtime rate of time and one-half. One employee is on duty to respond to emergencies, such as uncontrolled water leaks, electrical outages, etc. during these hours. PPD can also schedule some minor routine service calls at these times, upon request.

Annual Service Agreements -
Annual Service Agreements are available to residents of MOST Mutuals. Please contact Physical Properties for additional information. The Agreements offer maintenance and repairs at multiple levels of coverage and pricing. Various Mutuals have the option to select an Agreement to cover maintenance and repairs for Electrical, Plumbing, Hot Water Heater, and Heating and Air Conditioning.

Leisure World of Maryland - Summer Programs - Evening Deep Water Exercise Class

This co-ed class meets at Leisure World of Maryland Clubhouse I in the outdoor pool. This is a total non-impact class and is great for anyone recently recovering from surgery or just wanting to exercise. This class is done in the deep end of the outdoor pool. You will work the entire body. Belts are required. You may bring your own or purchase one from the instructor for $20. Class meets Mondays, July 12-Aug. 16 and Wednesdays, July 14-Aug. 18, 5:30-6:30 PM. Note: If required enrollment is not met five days prior to start date, class will be cancelled. Fee: $36 for 1 day per week; $66 for 2 days per week. Register: Clubhouse I.

Leisure World of Maryland - Summer Programs - Aqua Sculpt in the Outdoor Swimming Pool

This co-ed class meets at Clubhouse I in the outdoor pool. This class works with the properties of the water to help sculpt away inches while having fun in the sun. Class focuses on strength training, posture and balance. You will work the entire body. Class meets Tuesdays, July 13-Aug. 17, 11 am-noon.
