Your Pet and Its New Home

Tips to help adjust your pet to its new home

Although you may be happy about moving to a new home, chances are your pet may become stressed. The experts at the Humane Society of the United States have thought a lot about this and here's what they suggest.

Cats

Confine Spike to one room while you are getting the new home in shape. Familiarize the room with her favorite toys, food bowls and litter box. And while you're at it, consider making her an indoor pet--she'll live longer and happier.

Dogs

Getting Spot's familiar furniture in place as quickly as possible will settle him down. Be sure to take him on a few long enjoyable walks to get to know the neighborhood. And if you have to be away, arrange for a new sitter/walker or even a care center.
