Please help me plan my trip to Clearwater Florida

We're heading to Clearwater / Tampa area in Florida. Although we had hoped for warm, sunny, beach weather but now we know that's not going to happen!!
Can anyone share some tips on what to do, places to go, museums, botanical gardens, entertainment and any other local experiences that we can do to enjoy our trip in the general area of Clearwater, Tampa and St. Petersburg.

Go to Howard Park..across a causeway..neat beach like an island with sea breeze, great place for a picnic. Country Side Mall used to have a skating rink in it. If someone is a black belt golfer, scope out Innisbrook..super resort we stayed at. Alt 19 and 19 are fun to drive. Just floor it and remember, that older couple in the Cadillac coming at you can not see you and has limited if any side vision. The German Deli in the lower lever of the mall had to die for food.
check out the aquarium in St. Pete http://www.pieraquarium.org/ maybe take a half day charter fishing trip, if you have kids they might like the Pirate ship cruise http://www.captmemo.com/ which also serves beer for the Adults....or at least they used to. Check out some of the quieter local fare south of Clearwater Beach like Indian Shores or Madiera Beach shops. There are dolphin cruises http://www.dolphinencounter.org Hopefully this will give you a start
Hi Barbara, be sure to ck out St. Petersburg (the pier area) they have a wonderfulSalvador Daly Museum; be sure to check out Sarasota and especiallySiesta Key. In Tampa, Ybor City and Olde Hyde Park will be worth your time. If you find yourself at Clearwater beach, our son is a Fireman/EMT with the Clearwater FD.
Thanks so much for these great ideas! You've given me several ideas of things we can do instead of the beach and lying by a pool since the temps aren't what we had hoped for!
I say while your down our way you plan an Activerain meet-up. What a better way to meet your fellow rainers.
