I strive to provide better and better customer service to my real estate clients and 2019 was no exception. My positive reviews attest to the fact that my high standard of excellence has worked well year after year to improve my business results. Among other things, I provide multi-media marketing, professional photographs, home staging, and broker’s open houses featuring gift card drawings.

I continue to keep up with the latest technology by online marketing through social media platforms. Last year I also revamped my total website using a new service that connects directly with the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) for the most accurate information and adjusts to accommodate smart phone searches.

However, there are times when you can unintentionally impress a potential client by something far less obvious. For example, I was once trimming overgrown hedges in front of a home that I had listed for sale in Leisure World of Maryland. A gentleman walked up and asked who I was and what I was doing? I explained that I was the listing agent and wanted to improve the curb appeal of my listing for this home.

As it turned out he also lived in Leisure World in a nearby home in the same neighborhood. After our chat he asked for my business card before heading on his way and I returned to the task at hand. The home soon went under contract and the sale was closed.

I was pleasantly surprised several months later when I received a call from that neighbor who now wanted to sell his home.

He told me that any agent who was willing to trim shrubs was an agent that he wanted to work with, so he wanted to work with me to list his home for sale. You never can tell at the time how a little extra effort can make a big difference down the road.

This time around, after making a few helpful suggestions to get the house ready to go on the market it went under contract and closed before I needed to trim any shrubs.

Hello Barbara - you don't always know when people are listening/watching/reading.  I like your post title and it wove into this story of success in your real estate practice.

Good morning Barbara. What a great story this is. I guess the little things do often matter.

Thanks Michael Jacobs for your comment. I don't usually trim bushes but it taught me that you never know who's watching!

Barbara, you are so right doing all the technical improvements can be very beneficial... but old fashioned client service always wins clients.... there was an agent who was sweeping the front of the house and the street and she got a listing the same way you did... Thank you for participating in this Challenge, Endre
